In the early days of R/C our radio equipment was not too reliable. As time went on the manufactures gained experience and so did the modelers. It also became apparent the R/C'er could not go off to just any old field to fly. In April, 1963 several creative men decided to find a home for their hobby. A few days later a meeting was held, officers elected and the name of TRI VALLEY R/C CLUB was chosen.
It wasn't until April 1966 that the club felt secure enough to apply for and receive an AMA club charter #301 thus making us the oldest in the area and we remain so today. In the years that followed Tri Valley was involved in many local and regional events. Membership grew to a high of 84 in 1982. In recent years like most of the areas clubs our membership has up and down due to the economy and additional clubs in the area.
We are pleased that in 2009 we have had an increase of membership of 6 bring our membership level to 30 of the most active and congenial group modelers that anyone would want to associate with.
Today we enjoy the cooperation, understanding and fellowship from all our members as we continue to grow and improve. If you would like more information on joining a fun bunch of enthusiastic flyers contact the Club President or the Webmaster.
Keep up the good work Tri Valley, you are the greatest. You earned the right to be Number One!
